| Sample Linux Training Data Files |
| The "top level" or "parent" directory of these data files is called "data-files". This directory contains three subdirectories named "prod" (for the Production Department), "sales" (for the Sales Department) and "user" (for YOUR user data files). |
| You can work with these sample Linux data files to do tasks like copying, moving and deleting files, and changing the permissions of files. |
| The "Type" of the Sample Linux Training Data Files |
| The data files were created in OpenOffice, a FREE suite of application software
programs, comparable to the Microsoft Office programs (like Word, Excel and PowerPoint). |
| The data files in the subdirectories of the data-files directory, with
the suffix (ending) of .sxw, were created in the OpenOffice word
processing application named Writer. |
| The data files ending in .sxc were
created in the spreadsheet program named Calc. |
| And the files ending in
.sxi were created in the presentation program named Impress. |
The Contents of the Sample Linux Training Data Files |
| The sample Linux training data files do not contain any Linux information or Linux course information. |
| The data files are just sample files supplied to you for copying, moving, deleting, and changing the permissions of files. |
| You do not need to open these data files, but if you want to, you can open them using the OpenOffice programs described above. They may or may not open in Microsoft Office programs (like Word, Excel and Powerpoint). |
| Again - you do not need to look at the contents of these files, they are just provided for you to use with the Linux Training Hands-On Exercises (labs). |
